Position Title :     Structural Engineer
Reports to     :     Project Manager
Location       :     Beijing/Tanggu
 
Main Function:
Responsible for civil and structural engineering for the capital projects group, to ensure that design and construction meet ConocoPhillips standards for safety, quality and operability.
 
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
·Participate in development of project premises and facility scope for new projects.
·Identify and direct the execution of studies as required for structural and foundation design.
·Lead the development of guidelines and specifications for structural and foundation design to meet project requirements.
·Participate in the development of fabrication and installation strategies; ensure structural design complies with transportation/fabrication/installation requirements.
·Manage interface issues with business unit to ensure design incorporates drilling and operations requirements.
. Ensure that all design work is completed to appropriate Chinese and industry standards, and is consistent with the project objectives of reliability, safety, operability and cost effectiveness.
·Coordinate and participate in joint review of design drawings and other design documentation as appropriate.
·Ensure that engineering work scope and design documents are properly defined and completed to support procurement, fabrication, and installation.
· Review contractor’s weight control procedures and reports.
· Participate in bid evaluations; approve bid summaries within level of approval authority.
·Review project design documents, including design drawings, specifications, and datasheets, as per designated approval authority and project procedures.
·Provide design support for fabrication, construction, and installation.
·Provide design support for pipeline & riser remedial/repair work
 
 
EDUCATION
 
· B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering required
· M.S. and or PHD in Civil or Structural Engineering will be considered.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
·Minimum of 7-15 years prior work experience in oil & gas offshore projects.
·Strong technical competence and problem solving skills.
·Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
·Accepts ownership, is accountable, and delivers on commitments.
·Knowledge of current software applications for structural engineering.
·Knowledge of relevant structural and welding engineering codes and standards.
·Knowledge of subsea pipeline and riser installation/repair methods
·Understanding of structural fabrication methods in order to support construction activities.
